Use 'while racing for the bus' otherwise the sentence would mean that Sonali's  bag not Sonali was racing for the bus. (which is funny ) 

RULE   - DANGLING PARTICIPLE
A participle is a verb-adjective.It should be related to a proper subject of reference. If the subject is lacking or if a wrong subject is used, the  sentence will not make any sense.
