India has a long history as a _1_ democracy where religious communities of every faith have _2_. The CAB(Citizenship Amendment Bill)  has _3_ as “rights and relief giver” to religiously persecuted illegal migrants including Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The exclusion of Muslims from the _4_ of the Bill flows from the obvious reality that the three countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan are Islamist, as _5_ in their own constitutions. _6_the course of history ,their actions of targeting minorities _7_ conversion or harassment, is clearly _8_ from the fact that the minority population in Pakistan has decreased from 23 per cent in 1947 to 3.7 per cent in 2011. Similarly, the minority population in Bangladesh has decreased from 22 per cent in 1947 to 7 per cent in 2011.

SOLUTION

THEME - Tackling illegal migrants in India : Citizenship Amendment Bill(CAB)

Our first task - Taking a quick overview of the passage by going through each and every sentence quickly. Once we do this we will get to know that -
Writer is talking about citizenship amendment bill which deals with citizenship of illegal migrants in India.
The writer says that India being a secular country, takes care of its people. He talks about bill and further says that the bill has emerged as “rights and relief giver” to religiously persecuted illegal migrants including Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Now keeping the theme in mind, let's solve the questions
1) Among the given options 'c' is the most appropriate answer. India is not a religious country. It has a long history as a secular democracy.

Rest two options 'small' and 'petition' can be easily eliminated as they don't fit into the context.

2) Among the given options 'd' is the most appropriate answer.
In a secular country, every religious community is tolerated and are given rights to thrive.

First three options can be easily eliminated as they do not fit into the context.
So, 'thrive' is the obvious choice.

3) Among the given options 'a' is the most appropriate answer.
Go with elimination method.

Three options b, c, d can be easily eliminated on the basis of their meaning.
Put down - to insult , to demean
Conserve - to save for later use
Commemorate - memorialize, to honour the memory of someone or something with a ceremony or object.
So emerge which means 'to become known' is the most appropriate word which fits into the context.

4) Among the given options 'c' is the most appropriate answer.

Again go with the elimination method.
Options a,  b, d  can be easily eliminated.
Ambit - the area of control and influence of something.

5)Among the given options 'b' is the most appropriate answer.
The writer is saying that Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan are Islamic countries and it has been stated in their own constitutions.

6) Among the given options 'c' is the most appropriate answer.
Over the course - during  throughout

7) Among the given options 'd' is the most appropriate answer.
The writer is saying that these countries throughout the history, have targeted the minorities for conversion /harassment.
So 'for' is the obvious choice. Rest options don't fit into the context grammatically.

8) Among the given options 'd' is the most appropriate answer.
The writer is saying that
targeting minorities for conversion is clearly visible from the fact that population of minorities has decreased.
