RULE - TYPE 2 CONDITIONAL
Type 2 conditional refers to a hypothetical situation and its probable result.In such case we use (would +verb) in the main clause and the past tense in the subordinate clause(hypothetical part).
Example - If I were a bird, I would fly in the sky.Hence, here C is the right answer

Option B is incorrect because of the section 'making the documents lose'.  Option D doesn't convey a correct meaning.
