🔘Cloze test is a very important topic for SSC exams.Tackling a cloze test with wits can turn it into a scoring topic for you. All you have to do is to take an overview of the passage and comprehend the theme.Every passage has a context, a tone in which it is written. So, basically all you have to do is this-

a) Take an overview of the passage and highlight the keywords.

b) Analyze the theme of the passage.

c) Pay attention to the connectors of the sentences.Supporting connectors indicates that the context of the two statements is similar, e.g.- likewise, similarly etc. Contradicting connectors show that the context of the sentences is of opposite nature, e.g. - but, unlike, however etc.

Solution :

THEME - From brain drain to brain gain

The author starts the paragraph with the list of a few countries that have been successful in luring their talented emigrants back home. Then he lists out some factors which are required to attract talented emigrants back home.

1) 'A few' fits in the context the most.

We can't be using 'several' with only as it will give contradictory sense.
Few - negligible, so we can't use 'few' here.
And we will clearly eliminate option 'd' as it's not about European countries alone.

2) Emigrants fits in the context the most. Here one may be confused between Emigrants and Immigrants. But if we know the meaning of these two words,  we will get through it.
Emigrant - Someone who leaves a country(native place)  to settle in a new country.
Immigrant - Someone who comes to a country from another country (their native place) in order to settle down.

3) 'Attracting' fits in the context the most.
Coercing and compelling are used in a bit negative sense.
Coerce - to restrain by force, to compel

4) 'Foster' fits in the context the most.
Foster - to nurture

5) 'Stimulate' fits in the context the most.
One maybe confused between stimulate and cause. If there were no 'stimulate' in the option, we would have gone with 'cause'.
